Gaza civil defence struggles through tonnes of rubble to recover thousands of buried Palestinians
Civil defence in Gaza is urging international help to bring more bulldozers for body recovery. Only one bulldozer is available in Gaza City, slowing efforts to recover Palestinians buried under rubble. Over 9,500 Palestinians remain trapped beneath destroyed buildings, according to civil defence estimates. Rescue teams work manually with simple tools and old machinery, making the operation slow and hazardous. A lack of heavy machinery could extend recovery efforts to around three years. Families see recovery operations as painful but necessary for proper burials and closure. Civil defence warns many sites across Gaza remain, showing the war’s long-lasting impact.
