Syrian forces deploy in Hasakah under ceasefire agreement with SDF
The Syrian army has moved into the city of Hasakah, formerly under the control of the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF). It’s the first step in the implementation of an integration deal between the army and the SDF. Hasakah is located in northeastern Syria and has long been a stronghold of the SDF. A large convoy of trucks was seen entering the city hours after the SDF declared a curfew there. Under the agreement, Syrian government forces are also expected to enter the cities of Kobani and Qamishli. The Syrian army has established control over most of the country in the past few weeks.
