Syrian government forces and Druze factions exchange prisoners in Suwayda
Syrian government forces and the Druze minority have carried out a prisoner exchange after fierce fighting last year. The agreement provides the release of 61 members of the Druze community and 25 Government personnel. Last year, violence broke out in Suwayda province between Druze and Bedouin communities. The unrest stemmed from longstanding disputes over land, grazing rights, and welfare benefits. Al Jazeera’s Heidi Pett has been following the exchange in Suwayda, Syria.
