Hezbollah mourns Khamenei as supreme religious leader but stops short of war call
Hezbollah and its supporters saw Iran’s late Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei as their supreme religious and political authority. They held a solidarity gathering in Lebanon to mourn him, describing him as their supreme religious leader. Secretary General Naim Qassem vowed to continue Khamenei’s path of resistance and called his killing a criminal act. Hezbollah pledged to confront the aggression but stopped short of declaring war or openly calling for revenge on Israel. The group has been badly weakened by near-daily Israeli strikes and faces clear warnings against any “hostile action” from Lebanon. Although it still holds missiles, any major attack on Israel would likely trigger massive retaliation, hitting its already displaced supporters.
